27 April 2010: Hitron Technologies, the DOCSIS 3.0 gateway specialists, will be launching three new products at ANGA Cable 2010 to enable operators to take full advantage of their DOCSIS 3.0 and fibre rollouts.
The CDE-30350 is an 8x4 DOCSIS 3.0 router with wireless capability. Based on the Texas Instruments chipset, the CDE-30350 provides more efficient handling of the data stream, enabling cable operators to offer speeds of over 120Mbps, with a single modem able of handling 400Mbps. This Hitron router also provides guaranteed wireless performance via a dedicated CPU. Hitron is also demonstrating a non-wireless 8x4 DOCSIS 3.0 router at ANGA, the CDR-39350.
For fibre rollouts, Hitron has developed its state-of-the-art Gigabit Ethernet fibre router, the GVE-39320. This router breaks new ground for operators as, unlike many routers on the market today that cut out in the 50-80Mb range, Hitron’s specialist expertise in router development ensures that the GVE-39320 can deliver speeds of up to 956Mb without any issues. With the Hitron GVE-39320, Telcos, ISPs and cable operators with a fibre network can offer live streaming to multiple outlets at the same time.
A new development for Hitron is its DOCSIS-based Network Monitor, the DNP-39341. This monitor, which is based on DVB specifications, enables operators to proactively manage the quality of service being delivered to customers’ homes, and to improve customer retention. The Monitor uses Simple Management Protocol (SMP) to enable it to be easily integrated a management system. The Monitor can sit anywhere in the network to monitor the signal quality and provide live data to the Network Management System. By placing it at the final line amplifier for instance, the operator can monitor network status, proactively react to any problems before they are highlighted by the customer, validate any customer complaints that come the service centre and perform preventative maintenance when required.
Rudy Zijlstra, CTO at Hitron Europe GmbH, commented: “We are focused on enabling the roll-out of reliable high-speed internet over cable and fibre networks. Our state-of-the-art DOCSIS technology provides operators with the best possible use of bandwidth allocation in the delivery of their data and video services. Fibre network deployment in particular is fast picking up speed across Europe. Our fibre router gives operators the opportunity to take full advantage of this roll-out with unrivalled speeds for the delivery of a wide range of services.
“The DNP-39341 Network Monitor is a first for Hitron and builds on our DOCSIS knowledge to provide operators with an invaluable, flexible solution for improving their customer service.
“We expect ANGA to be a very interesting show this year, as DOCSIS 3.0 and fibre roll-outs pick up pace, and we look forward to helping operators understand how to maximize their investment in these networks.”
